FAQ’s

Do I have to ride a Royal Enfield?

Absolutely not! PAMSMCRIDE is open to all brands of motorcycles.  Brian (Beetle) our Team Leader will be riding a Royal Enfield 350 motorcycle, inspired by Winifred Wells ride in 1950.

Is PAMSMCRIDE a charity ride or a Royal Enfield motorcycling event?
It’s a charity ride, proceeds raised from PAMSMCRIDE will directly support the Guide Dogs Victoria breeding program and it is hoped that we can raise enough funds to support the breeding and training of three dogs.

Guide Dogs Victoria is the national breeding centre for Guide Dogs Australia. We breed in excess of 130 dogs per year and regularly transfer dogs to other Guide Dogs Schools around the nation to use in both their breeding programs and in the training of Guide Dogs in other States. As a result, funds raised for Guide Dogs Victoria’s breeding program in fact support all other Guide Dogs schools around Australia too.

 April 2017.

Do I have to pay to ride?

Yes, entry fee is $300 per Registered Participating Rider/Virtual Rider/Virtual Group), for those Participating Riders who wish to do more than one Stage, each additional Stage is $50. On line Registration, only.

We just want to be clear that as riders on PAMSMCRIDE, you can join and leave the ride at any stage. Yes the ride leaves from Perth and ends in Perth, that's what Winifred did and that is what Beetle will be doing. You as a rider do not have to start in Perth nor do you have to return/finish in Perth. The ride is about getting out there and meeting new people, sharing experiences, helping the communities you pass through, Raising awareness of Winifred Wells and raise funds for the Guide Dogs Puppy breeding programme. It's a lot to take in but the main thing is to just sign up for what ever Stage suits you and come and share the experience.

Stage 1 - Perth to Adelaide
Stage 2 - Adelaide to Melbourne
Stage 3 -  Melbourne to Sydney
Stage 4 - Sydney to Melbourne
Stage 5 - Melbourne to Adelaide
Stage 6 - Adelaide to Perth

Do I have to raise money to take part?
Yes, all Participating Riders must raise a minimum of $1000 to participate.  The Participating Rider or Virtual (Rider/Group) who raises the most funds (over $1000) will win the bike (state competition laws will apply).

Can we donate to a local charity?
N
o, we’ve deliberately partnered with Guide Dog Victoria to support the Guide Dogs Victoria (GDV) breeding program, and it is hoped that we can raise enough funds to support the breeding and training of three dogs or more.

You will need to supply your details (via on line registration), all Registered fund raisers (participating and virtual) are to complete and have approved a GDV Authority to Fundraise. This is managed by GDV, it will be emailed to you for completion and return.

What happens if it rains?
Safety comes first, if a city is experiencing extreme conditions we can postpone the event for a period of time if necessary.  We have short days at the end of the ride to cover any unforeseen delays (to ensure that we finish in Perth on our defined date of 22/1/18.
By being a registered rider, your local host will send an SMS & email alert regarding events that are postponed or cancelled.

Cash Donations - What about cash?
Unfortunately, we cannot accept cash from you for your fundraising, not on the day, before or after the event as the funds need to be tallied against your name online.  If you receive cash donations at any time, you need to donate to yourself online, advise Guide Dogs Victoria who has given you the money so that they can issue that person with a tax receipt if required.

Tax Deductible Receipting?
GDV will be issuing receipts to all those that supply their details (either with cash donations as we travel around or via on line donations to riders)
